THE COMPANY

ANZ Banking Group is a financial powerhouse serving clients across AU and NZ.

As the second-largest bank by assets and the fourth-largest bank by market capitalisation in Australia, ANZ plays a vital role in the country’s financial landscape. They offer a comprehensive suite of banking and financial services, making them a trusted partner for millions of individuals and businesses.

THE CHALLENGE

ANZ faced a critical challenge related to their procurement system.

Their existing solution had reached its end-of-life stage and was no longer supported. This lack of support posed a significant risk, as continued use after a specific deadline could have resulted in substantial contractual damages for ANZ.

Bloom was an outstanding delivery partner for a challenging remediation. They closely managed all aspects of the work, took great care to ensure the delivery was “right the first time” and displayed exceptional interpersonal skills at managing different relationships.

THE SOLUTION

ANZ partnered with Bloom, a company with expertise in procurement solutions and integrations.

This collaboration involved several key steps:

  • Bloom worked with ANZ to understand the core categories currently reliant on their procurement product. Through this analysis, we were able to refine the transition scope by focusing on the five most critical “base drivers” within the procurement process.
  • Bloom’s experience, IP, and strong partnership with SAP were instrumental in planning a successful project methodology. The methodology established clear milestones throughout the transition process, ensuring a smooth and well-defined path forward.
  • Bloom conducted a thorough analysis of ANZ’s existing procurement processes across the impacted categories. This analysis, in conjunction with identifying system dependencies, helped them design future-state processes that prioritized an enhanced user experience and improved efficiency for ANZ staff.
  • Three key principles guided the design of the new procurement processes:
    • Streamlining and improving the user experience for those involved in procurement activities.
    • Ensuring a smooth transition with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
    • Creating a platform that can adapt and evolve to support ANZ’s future procurement needs.

THE OUTCOME

With the support of a skilled partner, ANZ successfully transitioned away from their legacy procurement system and achieved several positive results.
